CBDistillery Isolate CBD Oil

CBDistillery CBD Oil Review

CBDistillery aims to “provide the masses with easy access to hemp-derived CBD”. To do this, they offer a broad range of CBD products, including isolate-based and broad-spectrum oils. For the last few weeks, I’ve been using their 1000mg CBD isolate oil.

In the bottle, you get 30ml of approximately 3.3% CBD oil made up of fractionated coconut oil (MCT) and CBD Isolate. Isolate is when a single cannabinoid has been extracted from hemp, so you only get CBD and no other plant substances. It’s gluten-free and is made with non-GMO industrial hemp that’s been grown in the USA.

The label and packaging provide lots of useful information about the contents, use and serving suggestions. Although they’re busy with lots of different details, the overall appearance is impressively professional. I was also pleased to note the child-safe cap and a QR code that lets you access the lab certificate for your batch.

In the past, I’ve found oils made with isolate to be less effective than the broad or full-spectrum options. But, recently more premium isolate options have become available and I’ve been impressed by the quality of brands like Medterra. So I was keen to see how good this isolate-based oil from CBDistillery is.

Who is CBDistillery?

Founded in 2016, CBDistillery was created by a group of CBD enthusiasts from Colorado, USA. They quickly connected with their customers and now their products are shipped worldwide and stocked by numerous retailers. They’re also committed to spreading the word about the benefits of the cannabis plant and providing anyone who’s interested with information about the latest industry research.

The hemp used in their oil is grown in the US and then extracted in their manufacturing facility in Sheridan, Colorado. These premises were recently added to the Good Manufacturing Practice registration, which means that it’s achieved rigorous safety and cleanliness standards.

Impressively, CBDistillery is certified by the US Hemp Authority. The Hemp Authority conducts detailed audits that include quality management systems, master manufacturing records, ISO quality standards, employee training best practices, and Good Agricultural Practices.

CBDistillery has also achieved accreditation from Generally Recognized As Safe (GRA). To reach this standard, they have to submit detailed information about their ingredients and extraction methods. As a result, they’re so confident that their oil is effective, they offer a 60-day moneyback guarantee.

As well as this CBD oil you can also find a number of other products available including CBDistillery gummies and CBDistillery capsules, most of which we have reviewed if you would like to find out more.

3rd Party Lab TestsCBDistillery Lab Report

CBDistillery has one of the most comprehensive third-party lab results systems I’ve seen. They publish one example certificate on every item’s product page in their online storefront, but you can access the exact results for your batch by using a QR code.

Towards the bottom of the bottle, you’ll find a QR code that any compatible reader can scan. The code reader will take you to the CBDistillery results portal to enter the batch number. The batch number is printed on the bottom of the bottle; mine was 3201190. This gave me access to an exceptionally detailed set of lab results.

It included a cannabinoid profile, a terpene profile and an in-depth report of contaminants, including pesticides, residual solvents, mycotoxins and heavy metals. The only cannabinoids detected in the analysis were about 1125mg of CBD and 3.99mg of CBDV. I wasn’t surprised to a trace of CBDV because it often comes up in isolate products. This may be because structurally the two are very similar.

No terpenes were detected and the contaminant screening showed that all possible substances were either not detected or below the quantifiable level. This means that everything falls within safe levels and there were no concerns.

Ease of Use

CBDistillery Isolate CBD Oil Colour

The bottle is sturdy and comes with a child-safe cap and a long, tapered dropper. There are many instructions on the packaging, including directions for use and tips for choosing your serving size.

Although, using the dropper to place the oil under my tongue was relatively simple, I was never sure that I had applied a precise amount. This was down to some slightly confusing details over how much of a dropper makes up 1ml. To solve this it would be useful to have some small marks at 0.25ml, 0.5ml and 1ml.

CBDistillery CBD Oil Taste

This is a deliciously mild oil with a hint of walnuts paired with the buttery taste of MCT oil. Even if you place it directly on your tongue, it still tastes great and has no trace of bitterness. If you don’t like some oils’ bitter grassy flavour, this one will be perfect for you.

Potency/ Effectiveness

To achieve my usual daily measure of about 40mg, I took half a dropper and four drops, twice a day. If I got my sums correct, that should give me two measures of about 19.7mg. This isn’t the most potent oil I’ve tried, but it produced a few mild effects.

During the three weeks I used it, I noticed an improvement in sleep quality and reduced anxiety symptoms. It didn’t seem to help with my tension headaches, but I did notice a calming sensation about an hour after each measure.

Value for Money

For £60 you get 1000mg of CBD which is slightly more expensive than Medterra’s £49.99 1000mg bottle. However, CBDistillery regularly reduces it to £50, making the two almost identical. At the full price, it works out at 6p per mg of CBD, at the reduced price, it’s 5p. This makes a medium-strength bottle like this much more accessible to customers on a budget.

While I still prefer broad-spectrum or full-spectrum oils that contain traces of other cannabinoids, this provides a useful alternative if you can’t afford brands like Bud & Tender or Eir Health. Additional value is also added by the reassurance of CBDistillery’s various certifications and detailed third-party lab results. The incredible flavour also means that this is an oil worth trying.

Would I Buy Again?

Yes, I would buy this oil again. The price is excellent and CBDistillery is a great choice for those on a budget.

Whilst this oil was certainly good, it didn’t quite score high enough to be included in our best UK CBD oils article where the bar is set very high. As CBDistillery only uses organic hemp, it cannot be included in our best organic CBD oil reviews.

If what you seek is a high-strength oil, at 3.3% it is a long way off the threshold of 25% to be included in our list of the strongest CBD oils available in the UK.

Overall
This is an excellent CBD oil made with isolate. It's got a delicious flavour that tastes like butter with a hint of walnuts. The QR code on the bottle allows you to check the analysis certificates for your batch; they provide exceptional detail, including a terpene profile and contaminant screening. The bottle is sturdy, seals well and comes with a tapered dropper that would be better if it was marked with a simple measure. The third-party lab results show that it's free of contaminants and the only detectable cannabinoids are CBD and CBDV.
