For the last three weeks, I’ve had the pleasure of trying Eir Health’s No.9 Awake CBD oil. I’ve previously used several of Eir Health’s oils and each time I’ve been impressed with the potency, price and effectiveness. Now, they’ve extended their range and added several broad-spectrum products, including the No.9 ‘Awake’ oil.
No.9 Awake isn’t a standard CBD oil, it’s been designed to support focus and wakefulness during the day. To achieve this the 30ml bottle has been packed with 900mg of CBD, a blend of terpenes, vitamin D3, vitamin K2, natural pineapple flavour and an organic MCT carrier oil.
A single 30ml bottle of No.9 delivers thirty 1ml servings, each providing about 30mg of CBD. To give a fair comparison between products I always use 40mg of CBD per day. Because this is a daytime oil, I chose to take about 0.65ml under my tongue as soon as I got up in the morning and another 0.65ml at 1pm (to give a daily total of 40mg). I used it regularly for two weeks and had about a third of the bottle left at the end.

Who is Eir Health?

3rd Party Lab Tests
Eir Health provides detailed third-party lab results for every batch of CBD products. They’re easy to find, via a link on each product page. The batch number for each item is printed on a sticker on the base of its box. The batch number for my oil is 4030722AM. I found the relevant documents easily with a quick look through the main lab result page (lab results accessed on 8th February 2023).
At a glance, the certificate showed that the sample contained 955.318 mg/unit of CBD and has no detectable THC, heavy metals or pesticides. This indicates that my bottle contains slightly more than the 900mg of CBD advertised on the label.
Further on, the certificate shows that of 39 terpenes tested, 23 were found in at least trace amounts. The cannabinoid breakdown showed that 15 cannabinoids were tested for and traces were found of 7 (CBD, CBG, CBDa, CBDV, CBC, CBGa and CBN). No THC was found in any form, although the sample does contain a tiny trace of the controlled cannabinoid CBN.
Herb Reviews Terminology:
Full-spectrum – A product that contains a complete range of cannabinoids including THC.
Broad-spectrum – A product that contains a complete range of cannabinoids except for THC.
Isolate – A product that only contains CBD.
With 7 cannabinoids and no THC, the lab results demonstrate that, as labelled, this is a broad-spectrum extract. It’s good to see such a range of trace cannabinoids because there has been a growing trend of brands using the ‘broad-spectrum’ label for products that contain CBD with only one or two other cannabinoids.
All in all, this is an excellent set of lab results with genuinely impressive attention to detail.
Eir Health Awake Ease of Use
Eir Health has covered all bases with this oil when it comes to ease of use; you get a leaflet of detailed, simple-to-follow instructions, a ‘how to take CBD’ video on the product page, a child-safe cap, a bulb-tipped dropper and a measuring scale marked on the tip. With all these features, even someone new to CBD will find it an absolute doddle.
The child-safe cap is a great touch and adds a level of safety that sadly some brands are still missing, it also prevents the thread from getting oily and unscrewing in your bag. The dropper and the measuring scale take all the guesswork out of dosing. Just load it with 1ml CBD oil and squirt the full amount under your tongue. It saves you from trying to count drops or having to stand in front of a mirror to see how much you’ve taken.
Taste
The inclusion of pineapple extract in this oil has made it something special when it comes to flavour. You still get the fresh herbal taste of the CBD but it combines with the pineapple to create something completely new.
If you were to go against Eir Health’s advice and place it directly on your tongue you will experience a sharper, more bitter taste. But if you follow the directions and drop the oil under your tongue, your mouth will be immediately filled with a delicious pineapple flavour.
Potency/ Effectiveness
After taking each measure of No.9 I noticed an improvement in my focus and mental clarity that started almost immediately and last for at least two hours. As the two weeks progressed the effects were even more noticeable. I found it particularly useful in the afternoon when I often feel lethargic and tired.
I didn’t notice any other specific effects during the trial period such as a reduction in tension headaches or noticeably improved sleep. However, I did experience a definite improvement in my general outlook and mood that stemmed from the increased alertness.
I scored the No.9 highly for its focusing effects but didn’t give it a full 10 points because there wasn’t the broad range of other results that I’ve experienced from some oils.
Value for Money
A 30ml bottle of Eir Health No.9 oil containing 900mg CBD costs £68. This works out at about 7.5p per mg of CBD, making it the same as CannaWell (7.5p per mg). It’s more expensive than Hemp Point (4p per mg) and the excellent CBD Brothers Blue Edition (4p per mg). However, with No.9 you get the added value of the extra terpenes and vitamins.
Would I Buy it Again?
Yes, I would buy this oil again. The lab results are the best I’ve seen and deliver an exceptional level of detail. In addition, the great results, delicious flavour, child-safe cap and easy-to-read scale on the dropper make this an excellent oil at a great price.
