Certified Organic CBD Oil

Best Organic CBD Oil UK

At Herb Reviews, we understand how important it is to find CBD oils from trusted brands that are committed to safety, quality and excellence. We’ve found that one of the best ways to do this is to choose those that have been awarded an official organic certification.

Organically certified products are subject to regular rigorous inspection and testing to ensure that they meet official standards. They must be farmed using approved organic techniques and produced without the use of artificial fertilisers, pesticides, additives or fillers.

Many companies claim that their products are organic or have been manufactured without chemicals. Still, the label ‘organic’ should only be used when it’s been certified by a recognised organic authority. We’ve seen many retailers call their CBD oil organic but we have found few can back this up with organic certification. Those we recommend here are certified organic and we’ve seen the certificates to prove it!

Why Choose Organic CBD Oil?

If CBD oil is certified as organic, it has an additional official assurance of its quality. This means that in some cases they can be more effective, safer and free from contaminants.

Meeting Strict Standards

Achieving organic certification is not easy and involves regular inspections from an official organic authority. Most countries have their own recognised bodies; in the UK you’re most likely to find products certified by the UK Soil Association or a European authority acting under the authority of the European Commission. Each organisation publishes its own set of standards that a brand must meet. Most focus on farming, manufacturing and the final product, but others include broader aspects such as fair trade and fair wages for employees.

Regular Soil Testing

For a farm to remain certified organic, it must conduct regular soil tests. This ensures the correct level of natural substances and that it’s free from chemicals or pollutants. This is particularly important for CBD products because hemp is a bio-accumulator. This means that it quickly absorbs any chemicals present in the soil and allows them to build up its leaves and flowers

Natural Fertilisers

Included in most organic standards are specific requirements for everything used on the farm or in the production process. This includes lists of which natural fertilisers or soil improvers can be used. Not only must they be natural, but they must also pass a screening for contaminants such as artificial chemicals and heavy metals.

Organic Farming is Better for the Environment

Approved organic farming methods are often better for the environment. This is because they work with the natural environment rather than adding chemicals to it. It’s likely to reduce pollution, conserve water, reduce soil erosion, increase soil fertility, and use less energy.

Identifying Certified Organic OilsLeaf of Organic Recognition

Any product or brand that has been certified organic can display the logo of the awarding authority on the label. Also, on the company website or product page, you should see either a copy of the certificate or an image of the logo. This should be accompanied by a number that identifies who awarded it. To verify that the certificate is genuine, you can visit the ‘licensee checker’ on the Soil Association website.

Herb Reviews Selection Criteria

Organic certification is an excellent measure of quality, but to receive our recommendation, each oil must also meet our criteria for high-quality products.

Certified Organic

For every oil listed here, we’ve personally inspected a copy of the organic certification and verified it with the relevant authority.

Third-Party Lab Testing

To be included on this list we require brands to either display a third-party lab certificate for their product or send a copy to us for inspection. Third-party lab results display a profile of the cannabinoids in the oil and can sometimes include the results of screening for contaminants. They’re a useful way to verify any claims made by the company and prove that the contents match the information on the label.

Full-spectrum or Broad-spectrum

Full-spectrum oils contain CBD and a full range of other cannabinoids that are found naturally in the hemp plant. Broad-spectrum also contains a range of other cannabinoids except for THC. We’ve only included full or broad-spectrum oils on this list because they provide the added benefits from the other substances known as the entourage effect.

Best Organic CBD Oils

These organic certified oils are all available for sale in the UK. Each one meets our strict quality standards and is among the top CBD oils available today.

1. BioBloom Organic CBD Oil

BioBloom Logo
BioBloom Organic CBD Oil
How good is it?
This is a thick, aromatic full spectrum oil packed with beneficial substances from cannabinoid-rich hemp flowers. The nutrient-dense extract is suspended in a hemp seed carrier oil which adds a nutty flavour and additional omega 3 and 6 fatty acids.

BioBloom has achieved organic certification from Bio-Austria and their oils bear the Bio-Austria logo next to the official EU organic leaf. This also shows the code AT-BIO-301 which indicates that it was awarded by the Enzersfeld branch. In addition, they’ve been awarded organic certification in the UK and display the code GB-ORG-06.

Certificates of analysis are available for each batch and BioBloom works hard to provide total assurance of quality and safety. The oil is available in strengths of 4%, 6%, 8%, 10% and 13%, which can come in either 10ml or 30ml bottles. BioBloom have recently changed the design of their packaging but what’s inside the bottle is the same as it’s always been.

2. Body and Mind Botanicals Organic CBD Oil

Body and Mind Botanicals Logo
Body and Mind Botanicals CBD Oil
How good is it?

This cold-pressed 5% CBD oil from Body and Mind Botanicals has been certified organic by the UK Soil Association and displays the EU Organic Leaf logo. The pressing process extracts a full spectrum of cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and plant nutrients without the need for solvent extraction. The hemp extract is suspended in hemp seed oil, so you also get lots of beneficial fatty acids. It contains 500mg of cannabinoids which are made up of both CBDa and CBD.

The presence of so many cannabinoids and plant substances makes this a thick, potent oil with an intensely bitter flavour. It’s sharp, hempy and genuinely unpleasant. However, despite the taste, I’m genuinely glad I took it because I experienced a noticeable sense of relaxation, fewer tension headaches, deeper sleep and reduced anxiety.

You can access an example lab certificate via a link on the product page. The lab results are completed by JHG Analytical Services and include profiles of the cannabinoids, terpenes and flavonoids. This is an excellent level of detail and demonstrates just how many helpful substances are packed into this oil. The results show that the amount of cannabinoids falls just below the advertised 500mg and includes 456mg CBD with 33mg CBDa.

CBD Oil Information – CBD/CBDa content: 500mg CBD per 10ml. Other strengths available: 1.5%, 3% and 10%.

3. CannaWell Organic CBD Oil

CannaWell Logo
CannaWell Balance Organic Oil
How good is it?
The CannaWell ‘balance’ range of organic oils are a beautiful golden amber colour with a strong flavour of walnuts. They’re not as thick as the other oils on this list, but we found them to be just as effective.

Each bottle contains whole plant extract with a full spectrum of cannabinoids and numerous beneficial substances including terpenes, flavonoids and amino acids. However, if you prefer an oil with a milder taste, their ‘CBD’ range is a great alternative. It’s also organic but contains fewer other cannabinoids and plant substances.

All CannaWell oils are certified as organic by the Organic Food Federation and display the code GB-ORG-04. The certificates themselves aren’t currently available to the public, but we were able to view them on request.

With a membership of and close ties to, the European Industrial Hemp Association, CannaWell has been in the industry since 2015. They were also instrumental in the founding of the British Hemp Alliance.

Their oils are fully lab-tested, but the results are not yet available on their website. In both the ‘balance’ and ‘CBD’ ranges you can select from concentrations of 2.5%, 5% or 10%. Each strength comes in 10ml or 30ml bottles, with some occasionally having a 60ml option.

Biopurus full spectrum oils are also thick and intensely flavoured. The whole-plant extract is suspended in a hemp seed carrier oil and is rich in cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids, fatty acids and other plant nutrients.

Their premises and products have been certified organic by the German organisation ABCert. They’re also permitted to display the EU organic leaf logo which has been verified with the code CZ-BIO-002, the organic authority of the Czech Republic.

These are incredibly potent oils thanks to the range of plant substances it contains. Biopurus is a small supplier of specialist oils that has chosen to focus on producing simply presented, high-quality CBD products.

Detailed analysis of the cannabinoids in each batch is conducted by a third-party lab and published on each product page. You can choose from a variety of strengths from as little as 5% to the more highly concentrated 30%. Most come in 10ml bottles but occasionally you can find a 30ml option.

Conclusion

Oils are the most popular and versatile CBD products. By choosing one that has an official organic certification, you’re getting the assurance that it’s been produced without chemicals and artificial fertilisers. Because it’s so difficult to achieve this certification, brands that have it have demonstrated that they’re determined to produce safe and effective products.
