Smoko CBD Oral Drops

SMOKO CBD Oral Drops Review

For the last two weeks, I’ve been using SMOKO CBD’s mixed berry 1000mg oral CBD drops. I’ve never tried any SMOKO CBD products before, so I was keen to see what they were like.

Currently, SMOKO CBD only stocks oral drops (CBD oil) and fruit-flavoured CBD gummies. All their products contain a cryogenically extracted broad-spectrum CBD extract (THC-free). The oral drops come in a choice of three flavours (mixed berry, orange and mint) and three strengths (500mg (5%), 1000mg(10%) and 2000mg(20%)).

SMOKO CBD prides itself on producing the highest quality products, making them with organically grown hemp and ensuring they’re vegan-friendly and gluten-free. Each bottle of oral drops is made with MCT oil, hemp extract and flavouring.

A single 10ml bottle of SMOKO CBD 1000mg oral drops provides about 260 drops, each containing approximately 3.85mg of CBD. To give all the products I review a fair comparison, I always try using close to 40mg of CBD daily. To achieve this, I chose to take five drops (19.25mg) under my tongue as soon as I got up in the morning and another five drops at about 6 pm (to give a daily total of 38.5mg). I used it regularly for two weeks and had just less than half of a bottle left at the end.

Who is SMOKO CBD?

SMOKO CBD is a UK CBD and vape company based in Tunbridge Wells, Kent. Founded by Daisy Hicks and Mike Cameron, SMOKO was formed initially as an e-liquid and vape company named after an Aussie slang term for taking a cigarette break. With a determination to support smokers to transition to safer substances, SMOKO quickly became trusted for their EU-sourced products and strict quality standards.

Now, Mike and Daisy have branched out to form SMOKO CBD and add a range of high-quality UK-manufactured CBD products to their repertoire. In their online store, you’ll find a select range of gummies and oral drops all made with a broad-spectrum extract.

SMOKO CBD uses hemp grown organically and sustainably managed on farms in central Oregon. It’s then cryogenically extracted to create a cannabinoid-rich, THC-free extract. Once the extract is made, it’s shipped to the UK, where it’s combined with other natural ingredients to manufacture the final product. Samples from each product are tested by third-party lab Adact Medical.

Because they’re a relatively new player in the CBD industry, SMOKO CBD doesn’t have many customer reviews; however, its parent company SMOKO already has an impressive array of five-star Google reviews and lots of positive mentions on Reviews.io. Positive responses include comments on fast delivery, excellent customer service and quality products.

3rd Party Lab TestsSMOKO CBD 10% Oral Drops Lab Certificate

The SMOKO CBD website has a single lab result document accessible from the ‘View our testing certificates’ button on the main page and the ‘testing certificate’ links on every product page. This document contains an example lab certificate for each of SMOKO CBD’s products, dated 28/07/2021. Each certificate has a different ‘certificate number,’ but there is no corresponding identification or batch number on the bottle. Because these certificates are quite old, I think it’s unlikely that they correspond directly to the oil I received.

The certificate for the 1000mg drops shows a cannabinoid profile only. I prefer it when brands include a complete analysis of cannabinoids, terpenes and contaminants (like those found at Eir Health). The profile showed 1008mg of CBD (100.866 mg/ml) alongside traces of CBG and CBDa. Fourteen cannabinoids were tested for, but all the others, including THC, were not detectable above 0.0005mg/ml.

Herb Reviews Terminology:

  • Full-spectrum – A product that contains a complete range of cannabinoids, including THC.
  • Broad-spectrum – A product that contains a complete range of cannabinoids except for THC.
  • Isolate – A product that only contains CBD.

With three cannabinoids detected and no THC, the lab results back up the claim that this is a broad-spectrum extract. However, broad-spectrum extracts should generally contain a ‘broader spectrum’ of cannabinoids than the three found here. Also, the note SMOKO CBD sent me with the products mentions, ‘the process keeps the beneficial CBD, a range of other cannabinoids, terpenes, flavonoids and fatty acids’. With statements like this, I’d like to see more cannabinoids in the analysis and a full analysis of terpenes in the final product.

Ease of UseSmoko CBD Oil Drops Colour

SMOKO CBD’s oral drops come in a simple 10ml bottle with no frills. The screw cap seals securely, and the bulb-tipped dropper delivers drops accurately. This works well and is relatively easy to use, but it could be significantly improved by including a child-safe cap and a simple measuring scale. Child-safe caps keep your oil secure while the scale lets you take a precise amount of oil without struggling to count out drops. With this oil, I counted out the drops in front of a mirror as I struggle to feel them as they land under my tongue, making it tricky to count the correct amount. For an example of a product with a score of 10 for ‘ease of use’, visit Eir Health No.9.

SMOKO CBD Drops Taste

Overall I genuinely loved the taste of this oil; there’s no bitterness, no hempy grass taste and the mixed berry flavour is immediately noticeable. However, the mixed berry flavour wasn’t quite what I was expecting. Tasting this oil is similar to the experience of tasting vapour from a vaporizer; you notice the flavour in your mouth but don’t taste it on your tongue (which is fine when if you drop it under your tongue). While the mixed berry flavour is present, it was almost more of an aroma than a standard flavour and if I dropped it onto my tongue, I couldn’t taste the flavour.

Potency/ Effectiveness

After taking five drops of this oil, I felt immediately chilled and calm. Throughout the two weeks of using it, the most noticeable sensation was one of relaxation. I also experienced a general reduction in anxiety and agitation. While it wasn’t the most potent oil I’ve tried, it was an excellent all-rounder that could also improve the quality of my sleep and even take the edge off my tension headaches.

I was delighted with the results of taking this oil and have scored it highly to reflect that. I didn’t give it a full 10 points because each of the effects wasn’t as potent as those I’ve experienced from some previous oils like those from BioBloom.

Value for Money

A 10ml bottle of SMOKO CBD oral drops containing 1000mg CBD costs £49.99. This works out at about 5p per mg of CBD, making it almost as cheap as Hemp Point (4p per mg) and the wonderful CBD Brothers Blue Edition (4p per mg). However, with these drops, you get the added benefit of a pleasant flavour.

Would I Buy it Again?

Yes, I would buy this oil again. I was disappointed in the lack of detail in the lab results and that they were not available for each batch. However, the flavour makes it easy to take and I experienced a wide range of useful results. The price, flavour and gentle potency would make this an ideal oil for anyone looking to try their first CBD oil but want to avoid one that contains traces of THC.

SMOKO CBD Drops Final Scores

SMOKO CBD Oil Review
Overall
The 1000mg mixed berry Oral Drops from SMOKO CBD is a great tasting CBD oil well suited to beginners and anyone wanting to ease their way into CBD supplementation. When taking ten drops a day for two weeks, I experienced a range of useful effects, including enhanced relaxation, reduced anxiety and better sleep. The oil is made with an MCT carrier and a broad-spectrum (THC-free) extract sourced from cryogenically extracted, organically grown hemp. You can find a set of example lab results on the SMOKO CBD website, but disappointingly they only feature a cannabinoid profile and don’t’ link to each product with a batch number.
