fourfive is a popular UK CBD brand run by pro rugby players George Kruis and Dom Day. I’ve tried (and been impressed with) their products in the past so was pleased when they offered to send me some examples from their latest range.
For the last two weeks, I’ve been using fourfive’s 2000mg CBD Oral Spray. It comes in a 30ml bottle, has a natural flavour and is made with MCT oil and CBD isolate. Personally, I prefer to use broad or full-spectrum CBD products because in most cases I’ve found them to be more potent. However; as a brand aimed at athletes and sportspeople, I can understand the benefit of being sure that the product you’re taking doesn’t contain any controlled cannabinoids that may be restricted in your sport.
The 30ml bottle contains 2000mg CBD making the strength 6.67%. The spray cap delivers 240 sprays per bottle and each one contains a serving of 8.3 mg CBD. To give a fair comparison between products I always use 40mg of CBD per day. Based on each spray delivering 8.3mg CBD I chose to spray twice under my tongue (16.6mg CBD) as soon as I got up in the morning and another three sprays (24.9mg CBD) at approximately 7 pm.

Who is fourfive?
fourfive CBD is a UK brand based in St Albans that aims to harness the power of CBD and produce ‘sports-trusted CBD products’. During their professional rugby careers, fourfive founders George and Dom often turned to natural supplements to support their lifestyle. When they discovered CBD, they were keen to share it with friends and colleagues. However, they felt that there weren’t many brands available with products that met the athletes’ standards. To address this, they created fourfive.
fourfive aims to be a quality CBD and supplement range that helps the UK industry move towards universal standards of cleanliness, transparency and reliability. To achieve this and to verify the contents of the products they employ clinical neuroscientist Dr. Elisabeth Philipps and various well-known labs. including Phytovista, Eurofins and Triverity. A sample from each batch is sent to the lab for analysis, the results of which are published on their website.
They’ve had an exceptionally positive response from their customers with almost 500 customer reviews posted on Trustpilot. As of 02/02/2023, they had an overall grade of excellent and a large majority of five-star ratings. There are lots of mentions of the great product range and positive results.

3rd Party Lab Tests
fourfive displays a few sets of lab results for different batches of each product type. They can be accessed via a link in the site footer labelled ‘certificates of analysis’. Because my oil (batch number FF-O2210-N2) is a new product the relevant labs weren’t’ yet published on the website, so fourfive emailed them to me.
They showed a cannabinoid profile but no terpene profile or contaminant screening. Some brands, like Eir Health, go to great lengths to provide exceptionally detailed certificates. These results detected only 6.14% CBD and a trace of CBDV. That’s notably less than the 6.67% on the label and could negatively affect any dosage calculations you try to make. No other cannabinoids were detected, verifying that the oil is free from controlled cannabinoids such as THC and CBN.
Herb Reviews Terminology:
- Full-spectrum – A product that contains a complete range of cannabinoids including THC.
- Broad-spectrum – A product that contains a complete range of cannabinoids except for THC.
- Isolate – A product that only contains CBD.
It’s good that there are lab results available for every batch of oil, but I wasn’t able to award fourfive full marks for lab results because they don’t include a contaminant screening. It was also disappointing to find that the sample didn’t contain the full 2000mg of CBD.
fourfive Ease of Use
fourfive has designed its products with athletes in mind and has paid special attention to making this oil easy to use. The bottle is perfect if you’re in a hurry and on the go. The spray top is simple to activate and delivers a smooth jet of oil wherever you point it.
On the whole, this is a wonderfully convenient oil. The spray action is exceptionally smooth and appears to deliver an identical amount each time. I much prefer using a high-quality spray like this to having to measure or count out drops from a dropper.
There are useful instructions on the bottle and box but it’s such a simple product you’ll likely succeed without needing them. Another benefit of this product is that a quick spray under the tongue is significantly less conspicuous in public than using a dropper.
Taste
This oil is as close to tasteless as you can get with CBD oil. Even if you spray it directly on your tongue, you’ll only notice a mild buttery flavour. There’s no unpleasant aftertaste or hempy bitterness. If you struggle with strong herbal flavoured CBD oils, then this one will be ideal for you.
fourfive CBD oil Potency/ Effectiveness
I experienced a sensation of whole-body relaxation almost immediately after taking fourfive CBD oil. Throughout the two-week trial, I continued to experience this relaxed sensation as well as lower levels of anxiety. On a couple of occasions, I used an extra spray before a situation I was worried about which really helped to keep me feeling happy and relaxed. However, other than that I didn’t experience any other effects. Sometimes CBD oil helps reduce my tension headaches and improves my sleep, but this one didn’t.
Value for Money
Based on current fourfive prices (03/02/23) a 30ml bottle of 2000mg CBD spray costs £65 as a one-off purchase and £52 as part of a monthly subscription. This works out at about 3.3p or 2.6p per mg of CBD, putting it even cheaper than Medterra (4.5p per mg) another isolate brand. This is a great price, particularly if you choose the subscription option.
Would I Buy it Again?
Yes, I would buy this oil again. The spray top on four five’s CBD oil makes it one of the easiest products I’ve ever tried. It’s particularly good if you want to grab some CBD while on the move. For me, the effects were predominantly surrounding relaxation and anxiety reduction rather than anything else. However, that in itself was very useful and made a significant contribution to my general wellness.
