CBD capsules are a handy way to take a precise amount of CBD if you’re out and about or in a hurry. Over the last 15 days, I’ve been using fourfive 10mg CBD capsules.
A single bottle of 60 capsules provides a total of 600mg of CBD (fourfive also offers a 30-capsule option if you prefer). The capsules are made from vegetable cellulose and contain only CO2-extracted CBD isolate and an inulin filler. They’re 100% natural and, thanks to the vegetable-based shell, are suitable for vegans.
In most cases, I prefer CBD products that are made with full-spectrum or broad-spectrum extracts because in the past I’ve found them to be more effective. However, fourfive has set out to create a product range that can be used by athletes and professional sportspeople. To achieve that they need to be completely sure that their products are free from THC and any other controlled substances. The best and cheapest way to do that is to use CBD isolate.
To give a fair comparison between products I always aim to use 40mg of CBD per day. Based on each capsule delivering 10mg CBD I chose to swallow two capsules (20mg CBD) as soon as I got up in the morning and another two at approximately 7 pm.

Who is fourfive?
fourfive CBD is a UK brand based in St Albans that aims to harness the power of CBD and produce ‘sports-trusted CBD products’. During their professional rugby careers, fourfive founders George and Dom often turned to natural supplements to support their lifestyle. When they discovered CBD, they were keen to share it with friends and colleagues. However, they felt that there weren’t many brands available with products that met the athletes’ standards. To address this, they created fourfive.
fourfive aims to be a quality CBD and supplement range that helps the UK industry move towards universal standards of cleanliness, transparency and reliability. To achieve this and to verify the contents of the products they employ clinical neuroscientist Dr. Elisabeth Philipps and various well-known labs. including Phytovista, Eurofins and Triverity. A sample from each batch is sent to the lab for analysis, the results of which are published on their website.
They’ve had an exceptionally positive response from their customers with almost 500 customer reviews posted on Trustpilot. As of 02/02/2023, they had an overall grade of excellent and a large majority of five-star ratings. There are lots of mentions of the great product range and positive results.

3rd Party Lab Tests
The lab results for fourfive products can be accessed via a link labelled ‘Certificates of Analysis’ in the website footer. When I followed that link on 08/02/2023 there were two certificates for the 60 x 10mg capsules but neither matched the batch result on mine (FF-C2211-50). This is likely because mine are from a new batch and the results haven’t been published yet. When I asked fourfive about this they were able to email me the relevant certificates.
The lab results only show the results of a cannabinoid profile that tests for 12 cannabinoids. CBD was detected alongside a trace of CBDV (traces of CBDV are found in some isolate products). These results confirm that the capsules are made with isolate and are THC-free; however, because the values are presented in percentages only (5.298%) it’s hard to ascertain how much CBD is present.
Herb Reviews Terminology:
- Full-spectrum – A product that contains a complete range of cannabinoids including THC.
- Broad-spectrum – A product that contains a complete range of cannabinoids except for THC.
- Isolate – A product that only contains CBD.
I was pleased to see such a detailed analysis of cannabinoids but I couldn’t award full points because there was no screening for contaminants and the cannabinoid values were hard to interpret.
fourfive Ease of Use
This bottle of capsules is perfect for a gym bag but slightly too large for a pocket. Disappointingly it doesn’t come with a child-safe cap to prevent little hands from getting to the capsules. The capsules themselves are narrow and not much more than a centimetre long, making them easy to swallow, with a small sip of water.
Taste
These capsules are practically tasteless making them ideal for anyone who doesn’t do well with strongly-flavoured CBD oils.
fourfive CBD Capsules Potency/ Effectiveness
I didn’t notice any specific effects during the 15 days of taking these capsules. Overall, I felt well during that time but there were no noticeable improvements in anxiety, relaxation, sleep or tension headaches.
Value for Money
One bottle of 60 capsules holds a total of 600mg of CBD and costs £45. However, if you subscribe to receive a bottle every one or two months you can get them at a reduced price of £36. That works out as 75p per capsule and 7.5p per mg of CBD when they’re at full price. On subscription, they cost 60p for each capsule and 6p per mg of CBD. This makes them about the same price as Blessed CBD capsules and CannabiGold 10mg CBD capsules.
This is still quite pricy for an isolated product but fourfive capsules come with the additional benefit of rigorous testing for prohibited substances.
Would I Buy them Again?
No, personally I didn’t see enough effects to buy these capsules again. However, if you’re looking for capsules to go alongside other CBD products, I can see them being a convenient way to top up on cannabinoids when you don’t have time to count drops or apply a topical.
