OK CBD Oil Review 400mg Spearmint

OK CBD CBD Oil Review

OK CBD offers flavoured oils in strengths ranging from 50mg to 800mg in a 15ml bottle. They are perfect if you don’t like the taste of hemp oil. Once you’ve selected the strength of oil you can choose from spearmint, summer berry, orange and vanilla flavours. The 400mg spearmint oil I received is the first flavoured oil I’ve tried so I was excited to try to for myself.

The packaging is smart and well presented but a little busy with text and graphics.  The oil came in a cobalt blue glass bottle designed to provide protection from light and oxidation. Because it contains 15mls rather than 10ml it has a sturdy appearance and is topped with a child-safe cap. The appearance of the oil is incredible, it is perfectly clear with no cloudiness or residue.

Who is OK CBD?

OK CBD was created as the sister company of OK Vape, an e-liquid company founded in 2013. With high-profile customers such as Sainsbury, Asda, Morrisons and Argos already stocking their products, they decided to use their expertise to create a range of high-quality CBD products.

Their flavoured range is made from hemp imported from America and manufactured in the UK. Supercritical CO2 extraction is used to separate the active ingredients from the plant matter and then the oil is produced in ISO 7 classified facilities. These are clean rooms with minutely controlled environments to reduce the risk of contamination and aid the production of pure high-quality oils.

Third-Party Lab Tests

With any CBD product, third party lab certificates must be available for the customer at the point of sale. They tell you with certainty that the product is safe and that it contains what is stated on the label. In OK CBD’s extensive and informative blog, they mention the importance of third-party certificates but have chosen to make them available by request only. To see them yourself, you can contact OK CBD and request a copy of the certificates of analysis conducted by Juniper Analytics.

The detailed lab results give an in-depth look at the extract used rather than the whole product. Despite the slightly confusing layout, they do show a good range of cannabinoids and safe levels of residual solvents. Unfortunately, because of the complex presentation and because they don’t directly relate to this product I was unable to verify if the amount of CBD matched the label or if the THC level was below the UK legal limit of 1mg per container.

The cannabinoid profile includes CBDV, CBG, CBN, CBC and there may be traces of CBDA, CBDVA, CBGA, CBCA and THC. With full-spectrum oils, you get a large number of cannabinoids. However, many are in minute amounts, so only a few show up in the analysis. I was satisfied that what was shown on the certificates did represent a full-spectrum oil.

While there is some detail available about the hemp extract, I would like to see more information about the other ingredients contained in the oil. An MCT carrier oil is used and all other components are pharmaceutical grade, but there was no further mention of what they were.

Ease of Use

OK CBD Oil Review 400mg

This is a straightforward and easy to use product. The lid of the bottle is firmly secured with a child-safe cap and it has a tapered dropper. This type of bottle can leak a little, but I’ve had no problem with this one so far.

The recommended use instructions are on the label and the box and go into appropriate detail. They suggest starting with 2 drops daily and slowly building up to a maximum of 15. When you are on your own or without a mirror it can be tricky to measure out drops accurately, it would be easier if there was some marking on the dropper to show a standard amount.

OK CBD Oil – Taste

This is the first time that I have tried a CBD oil with a flavour added to it, and it blew me away. I was amazed at the total lack of any grassy or bitter tastes. The clarity of the oil and the lack of any colour or cloudiness indicates that this is well filtered, even before the spearmint flavour is added.

The flavouring is pleasant but intense without being too strong. I found it to be a refreshing alternative to the natural hemp flavour I have become accustomed to. Whether you take it on, or under your tongue, you won’t find any of the distinctive hemp taste.

OK CBD – Potency/ Effectiveness

With 400mg in 15ml, this is a low strength oil and I didn’t notice any major effects. That’s not unusual for me when I use weaker oils. It probably still provides a subtle benefit if used over a longer period of time.

I was surprised to see the words ‘high strength’ on the bottle because this is nowhere near being a strong oil. It is 3% and most high strength oils are between 30% and 40%.

Value for Money

The price of 400mg of CBD in 15ml of spearmint flavoured oil is £25, making 1mg about 6p. This is cheaper than many other good quality oils. For instance the 4% oil from BioBloom, EIR Health No 30 and is significantly cheaper than the 1000mg Bud & Tender. All of which are products I rate highly.

Not only is it great value oil, but it also comes with additional flavour and sparkling clear colour. The lab results backed up the claim that it is a full-spectrum oil, but ideally, these should be easily accessible on the product page.

Would I Buy Again?

No, I would not buy OK CBD oil again. Whilst the price is good, I did not get the effects I have from other similar priced oils. There are much better and more cost-effective oils available and these can be found in our best UK CBD oils article. As the product only uses hemp grown without fertilisers and pesticides it cannot be included in our best organic CBD oil reviews either.

If what you seek is a high-strength oil, at 3% it is a long way off the threshold of 25% to be included in our list of the strongest CBD oils available in the UK.
