The online product page and packaging demonstrate good attention to detail in most areas. Despite being incorrectly labelled as a ‘tincture’, which means alcohol-based extract, my first impression was positive. In each bottle, you get 30ml of coconut-based MCT oil carrying 3000mg of CBD.

That’s quite a lot for the £99.99 price tag (however it is common that isolate products are cheaper than full-spectrum) and seems accessible for those with a smaller budget. The recommended serving size is one full 1ml, which delivers about 100mg of CBD. At that rate, you should have enough to last you a month.

I’ve tried very few CBD oils made with isolate before, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Although most of my favourite products in the past have been made with full-spectrum or whole plant extract, I was still keen to see how this one measured up.

3rd Party Lab Tests

The third-party lab tests for this oil, and the other strengths, are easily accessible from the product page. However, there was only one example certificate and I couldn’t see any batch number on the bottle or in the box. In my opinion, it’s always preferable to be able to access lab results for every batch, especially the one that relates to your product. The certificate was detailed and easy to interpret. It included a cannabinoid profile and an in-depth report of contaminants, including pesticides, residual solvents, microbials and heavy metals. The only cannabinoid detected in the analysis was CBD and an impressive 3,623.1mg was present. This works out at 12.996%, which is significantly stronger than the 11% shown on the label.

In the past, I’ve noticed the best results from products made with whole-plant extract with a full range of cannabinoids and other plant substances. Medterra makes it clear on their website that they are aiming for an affordable product made with CBD isolate.

The box the bottle came in clearly says ‘zero THC’, which is difficult, if not almost impossible, to achieve. No matter how good the extraction there is likely to be some trace left behind. Although THC may still be present in an undetectable quantity, the results didn’t show any, so the claim could be accurate.

The rigorous contaminants screening showed that all possible contaminants were either not detected or below the quantifiable level. This means that everything falls within safe levels and there were no concerns.

Medterra CBD Oil Ease of Use

I found this oil to be one of the simplest to use. The recommended daily serving is 1ml, which Medterra has clearly marked on the dropper. This meant I didn’t have to mess around counting drops but could quickly place it under my tongue in one hit.

The dropper itself has a tapered tip. I’ve found these to be inaccurate in the past because they drip even when you’re not squeezing the bulb. Surprisingly, this one held the oil well until I applied pressure to the bulb. The only issue was that the bulb wasn’t quite large enough to fill the dropper up to the 1ml mark. Because of the clear measurements, it was easy to top up what I needed, so it wasn’t a big deal.

The instructions were vague and only suggested placing it under your tongue with no details about how long to leave it. Although there was no child-safe lid, the bottle and lid were both hard-wearing and sturdy so I could fasten it tightly. I never experienced a leak, even when I carried it around in my pocket.

Medterra CBD Taste

This could be one of the best-tasting oils I’ve tried. If you don’t like the bitter taste of hemp, it will be ideal for you. Every time I tried it, I did my best to detect any bitterness, but even if I dropped it directly onto my tongue, there was no unpleasant aftertaste.

There is a slight hint of coconut, but the main taste is similar to melted butter. This is because there are no other cannabinoids or plant nutrients, so most of the bitter flavours have been removed.

Potency/Effectiveness

11% is about a medium strength, but the recommended daily serving of 100mg is undoubtedly more substantial than your average oil. This wasn’t the most potent oil I’ve ever tried, but I found it effective.

I took the suggested amount for two weeks and found that it supported my sleep and mood. With some of the stronger full-spectrum oils, I’ve experienced a physical sensation of relaxation an hour or two after taking it. That wasn’t the case with this one, but I felt that it did improve my overall well-being.

Value for Money

For just less than £100, you get 3000mg of CBD, which is the best price I’ve seen for any CBD oil so far. A product made with CBD isolate is expected to be cheaper, but this is still significantly better value than many of the other products available in the UK today.

What makes it even more impressive is that it’s been produced to a similar standard to many of the premium oils I’ve seen. The large bottle is sturdy with an easy to use dropper, it has an excellent flavour and the third-party lab tests show that Medterra produces their products to a high level of safety.

Would I Buy Again?

Yes, I would buy Medterra CBD oil again. The price is very fair, there are detailed lab reports that are easily available and as far as isolate oils go it was pretty good. As a result, it scores highly enough to be included in our best UK CBD oils article. As Medterra only use organic hemp, it cannot be included in our best organic CBD oil reviews.

If what you seek is a high-strength oil, at 11% it is some way off the threshold of 25% to be included in our list of the strongest CBD oils available in the UK.

This is a well made CBD isolate oil with a pleasant buttery flavour. It provides excellent value with over 3000mg of CBD in a smooth coconut-based MCT carrier. The bottle is sturdy, seals well and comes with a clearly marked 1ml pipette. The third-party lab results show that it's free of contaminants and the only detectable cannabinoid is the CBD.
